RICHARD DOWDY
Principal, Photographer, Writer
A lifelong photographer and wordsmith with a canny sense of culture and design, Richard brings a depth of media experience to STUDIO 2055. A graduate of Cal State Long Beach, he's served as editor and art director for several publications, including Surfing, RC Cars, Model Builder, and Arts & Activities. He's also been successful as a screenwriter (X-Files), photojournalist (he's an Indianapolis Motor Speedway staff photographer, among other assignments), and author (Snap Judgments).
Says Richard: "My desire to express myself in the arts led to my university training in art, photography, and language courses. I am a photographer, writer, and art director. Each of these disciplines influences the others, and they, along with a long and enduring interest in popular culture, literature and film, have formed my life's endeavors. In fact, virtually all of the work I have done has been in fields for which I have an abiding passion. When your life is supported by doing what you love, you can ask for nothing more."
Richard has won several awards and been featured in numerous shows and publications, including the National Newspaper Photojournalism Awards; Orange County Art Director's Club, for Publication Design and Art Direction; PRINT; Communication Arts; and the Art of Photography International Exhibition.

KIMBERLY GONCZOL
Project Manager
When the opportunity came to move back to San Diego from Washington, D.C. I couldn't pack my bags fast enough. Although I've spent my career moving from coast to coast because of the military, San Diego is where I call home.
I spent the last four years in Washington, D.C., working as a Project Assistant for Legislative and Consumer Affairs, primarily focused on food-labeling issues.
I had the opportunity to make Christmas cookies in the White House kitchen; I watched fireworks from the White House lawn on the July 4th and met with the president on several occasions. I'm thankful for all the experiences, but when my son was born in 2006 I knew it was time to move home to San Diego.
Over the years I've had the experience working with small internet start-up companies as well as large pharmaceutical corporations. It's not the size of the company that matters, but rather the vision and personality of the firm that means the most to me. At STUDIO 2055 I participate in many areas of day-to-day business and am enjoying the experience immensely. |
