Charles (Alan) Barge left a prestigious position to found a company whose mission was to be the premier provider of turnkey solutions for the global aviation industry. His passion for excellence, dedication, innovation and total commitment to AERO clients has placed Alan at the forefront of the industry. As a direct result of his creation of AERO Systems Engineering (ASE) and AERO Bridgeworks (ABW), the companies have built on their successes by remaining true to Alan’s visions and responsiveness to customers’ needs. The ability of AERO’s design/build team to create efficient infrastructure at airports across the U.S. is a testament to his vision and foresight.
Specialized Experience and Technical Competence
- Directed project management and engineering for more than 4,000 gate position at 300-plus domestic airports throughout the country
- Provided a proactive approach to keeping complex aviation projects on track, within budget and on schedule
- Expertise in aircraft parking planning, passenger boarding bridges, preconditioned air, 400Hz/28.5VDC ground power, striping/taxi-lane layouts and gate systems
- Maintained close client relationships through ongoing client support
- Performed complex construction on active airports and gates without interruption to facilities
- Co-authored the Air Transport Association’s “Facility Planning Guidelines for Preconditioned Air, 400 Hz Ground power and Passenger Boarding Bridges”
- Co-authored the National Academies Transportation Research Board – ACRP report on “Evaluating Alternatives for Aircraft Ground Power, Heating and Air Conditioning”
